Saitama who looks ordinary and unpopular has a different hobby: being a hero. To pursue her childhood dream, she trained for less than three years - and lost all her hair in the process. Now, Saitama is so powerful that no enemy can defeat him in battle. In fact, all that is needed to defeat the evildoers with just one fist has led to an unexpected problem - he is no longer able to enjoy the joy of fighting and is still quite bored. All of this changes with the arrival of Genos, a 19-year-old cyborg, who aspires to become a student of Saitama after seeing what he can do. Genos suggests that the two join the Hero Association to become certified heroes who will be known for their outstanding contributions to the community, and Saitama, shocked that no one knows who he is, readily agrees. And then begins the story of One Man Punch Man, a comedian who follows an eccentric man who desires to fight powerful enemies who can hope to give him the excitement he has and, perhaps, will become famous in the future.

On a vast continent of the continent, powerful monsters and criminals have been wreaking havoc on cities. In response, millionaire Agoni formed the Hero Association, using superheroes to fight evil. Saitama, an unassuming hero, hails from City Z and makes heroism as a hobby. He has trained himself to the point where he can defeat any enemy with one punch, but his incomparable strength has left him extremely bored. Saitama eventually becomes a hesitant adviser to Genos, a cyborg seeking revenge on another cyborg who killed his family and destroyed his hometown. Saitama and Genos join the Hero Association, but due to low scores on the written writing test, Saitama is placed during a low entry rank, and his actions are often ignored by the public.
The Hero Association summoned all the top heroes to the meeting, informing them that the Shibabawa seer had a view that the world was in danger before death. Shortly thereafter, an alien named Boros invades the planet. The warriors fought against the invaders outside Boros' ship, while Saitama boarded the ship and fought Boros, who survived by passing more than one punch in Saitama before defeat. Saitama meets other heroes, such as military singer Bang, esper Blizzard, and King, a hero who is considered the most powerful man on Earth. Beasts also begin to appear at an increasing rate. Another growing threat is the powerful war musician Garo, who studied with Bang and called himself "Hero Hunter" Garo, who fights and defeats heroes to become stronger and more "beast".
The migration of the beasts is said to have been carried out by the Monster Association, an organization made up of beasts with the intention of destroying the Hero Association. They invaded various cities, kidnapped the child of the Hero Association's chief executive officer, and then recruited soldiers by giving them "monster cells", making people turn into beasts of extraordinary ability. In all of this, Garo binds the child who serves as a warrior, seeks out war heroes, and greatly improves his martial arts. The Monster Association tries to hire him, and then kidnaps the child if Garo refuses. Garo enters Monster Association headquarters in City Z to rescue a toddler , but is removed . The Hero Association also demolished headquarters to rescue the child of the authorities and then a chaotic war, in which City Z was destroyed. Most of the Monster Association leaders were killed, but many heroes, overconfident in their abilities, were defeated. Garo, having gained great power, defeated the remaining heroes, before Saitama came and defeated him. Without opposition from the other heroes, Saitama saves Garo's life and lets him escape.
After the war, the Hero Association's poor performance led to public opinion about them declining. Several heroes and dignitaries decide to retire or be attacked by the Neo Heroes, a rival opposition group that seems to be doing better in dealing with growing beast threats through its massive membership and the heroic leadership of Blue, who claims to be the son of a long-standing explosion.
